Feeling bored when sitting by your desk? Take care of an Arudino friend! ArduiBot greets you when you get close enough to it, and starts out with a full satisfaction meter. If left alone for too long, the satisfaction meter will decrease automatically, and the Servo on the side will reflect its emotional state. Click the button to raise the meter again.

Ideation / Design Process

  1. First brainstorming

  1. Conceptual Design

I wanted to make something that was playful and interactive – I initially was intrigued by the theme of connection, inspired by the NYC - Ireland portal that popped up over the summer. (before they disabled it because we can’t have nice things </3) I thought that a little Arduino friend could encapsulate this connection while also introducing an element of playfulness!

Prototype / Building Process

V1. Looping lights - counter I went into this project without a clear idea of what I wanted the bot to do. I was initially going to make the lights automatically increment and decrement but…

V2. Button to add // automatic count down I realized a button to signify “taking care of it” would work better. The lights automatically decrement after some time, almost like a satisfaction bar.

3. Putting it all together: ultrasonic sensor & motor

ArduiBot will greet you as you approach it, with flashing lights! It starts off happy, but over time will become grumpy so make sure you give it attention!
